Dementia is a contemporary, widespread disease. In the documentary film LOSS AND LOVE, three persons with different types of dementia are struggling from day to day: Jan, Mimi, and Sigvald. They´re constantly trying to find the right words, memories, and objects. Little by little they are losing bits of themselves. Thankfully, music, care and socialization can help – all enjoyment can´t disappear just because the memory does.
LOSS AND LOVE is Ragnhild Nøst Bergem´s feature debut, but in 2016 she made the short film REMEMBER ME?, also about dementia. In her new film, she goes further in her portrayal of the disease, and the film is full of respect, knowledge, and warmth.
