22 films from this year's program, spread across 47 screenings, will be shown at the cinemas this week. Several of the films are available to the audiences in Tromsø for the first time, as they were not a part of the digital program during TIFF 2021. This includes films such as NOMADLAND by Chloé Zhao, starring Academy Award winner Frances McDormand, which has already won several major awards including the Golden Globe for Best Film and Best Director. You can also see LIMBO, a beautiful and warm drama about a group of asylum seekers who are spending their days on a windy island in Scotland awaiting the replies to their applications for asylum. This Tuesday the film received two BAFTA Award nominations for Best British Film and Best Debut Film.
"TIFF at the Cinema" is regular cinema screenings in collaboration with Aurora kino Fokus and Verdensteatret - Cinemateket i Tromsø. The cinemas in Tromsø have been open per usual for a long time now, with a firm focus on Covid-19 infection control. You can read more about the cinema's guidelines and regulations here (Norwegian only): Aurora kino Fokus / Verdensteatret
Going to the cinema is safe, as long as everyone follows the guidelines and practice social distancing. We welcome the audience in Tromsø to "TIFF at the Cinema" and hope you'll enjoy the films!
