TIFF and new measures to prevent spread of virus
We’re still hard at work to make the best possible festival this year, and will take additional measures over the coming two weeks.

At TIFF we’re working to put on a safe festival from 18 to 24 January, both inside our cinemas as well as on our digital platforms. We’re in close contact with local health authorities regarding rules and regulations and will follow any recommendations that are presented to us, from both national and local authorities.
We want to do our part in keeping the virus situation under control these next two weeks and in light of the updated rules and restrictions we’d like to inform of the following measures taken by TIFF.
Cancelling events prior to the festival
Although it is still permitted to have up to 200 people at venues with fastened seats, we are following the health authorities recommendation not to gather people for the next two weeks. We are therefore cancelling/postponing all scheduled events up until the start of the festival.
- Our program presentation at Verdensteatret this coming Thursday will only be presented digitally, without audiences in the theatre.
- Scheduled school screenings in collaboration with Den kulturelle skolesekken the week prior to the festival will be moved to a later time.
- All meetings and gatherings of the fesival staff prior to TIFF will be held digitally.
Expanding our digital program
Our TIFF Digital program consists of 30 films as well as some events that are to be live streamed.
We’re currently working to expand this section of our program and will attempt to acquire the necessary rights to screen more films digitally. This so that audiences who might be considering not attending the festival in person will have the opportunity to see as many great TIFF films as possible.
Those who’ve already purchased value cards will be able to use these on digital screenings as well.
Postponing start of ticket sales
Tickets were scheduled to go on sale Monday 11 January at 08.00/8am. This has now been postponed until Thursday 14 January at 08.00/8am.
Ticket sales for Festival Friends was scheduled to start on Friday 8 January at 12.00/Noon. This has now been postponed until Wednesday 13 January at 18.00/6pm.
Check in at tiff.no
We will be updating our website as soon as any new information is presented by the authorities.
Everyone is hopeful that the infection rates will decrease over the next two weeks so that the country can re-open on 18 January.
Until then we’re encouraging everyone to stay home as much as they can, wash your hands and keep social distancing. We hope to see you at the start of our festival!
