The TIFF 2021 audience have watched movies for a week, both at home and at the Winter Cinema and have now cast their votes for their favourite. Normally, the voting for the audience award is done physically with paper ballots, but this year, with an almost all-digital festival it was done online.

Yngvild Sve Flikke's sophomore feature, and the festival's opening film Ninjababy received the most votes from the audience, and is the winner of the Tromsø Audience Award. Congratulations to the director and her crew!

Ninjababy premiered on Monday Jan 18 as the festival’s official opening film. The film had parallell premiere screenings on TIFF’s digital platform and at the Winter Cinema, located at Tromsø’s main square. Both screening was quickly sold out and due to public demand, an additional online screening of the film was scheduled.

The film will premiere in Norwegian cinemas February 26, distributed by Arthaus.

Everyone who voted for their favourite film was in competition for winning an iPad, given by our media partner iTromsø. The lucky voter this year was Thomas Heie Haugerud. Congratulations!
