Call for entries: Films from the North 2021

For the 21st year running the section will present new films from the Barents Region and other circumpolar areas. We invite films wherein the subject or the production is related to the northern parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Canada or Iceland, to participate.

Feature films as well as shorts and documentaries are eligible.

Selected films can be presented in or out of competition. Tromsøpalmen (The Tromsø Palm) will be awarded to the best short or documentary in competition, along with a prize of €5000 to the film’s director.

Feature length films – over 60 mins – can only participate outside competition.

Covid-19 and participation

We are aiming at a safe and slightly downsized festival, but with the main features intact. We hope to invite most directors as normal, but this will depend on the pandemic situation, particularly for international guests. We will follow national health-recommendations on travelling and will assess the situation carefully as the festival approaches.

The submission deadline is October 20, 2020. Works-in-progress are accepted.
