New manager at Verdensteatret Cinematheque

As current manager at the Cinematheque Sveinung Wålengen has accepted a new job as program manager at Frogner cinema in Oslo, the Tromsø International Film Festival (TIFF) has been seeking his replacement and are now happy to announce that John-Kristian Dalseth has been hired as the new manager and head of programming at Verdenstearet Cinematheque.

Dalseth has been employed by TIFF since 2012, when he was hired as a production manager at Verdensteatret. Since then he's occupied several different positions within the festival, including as Program Director for the festival's sidebar program Films from the North and most recently as Communications Manager.

- We are very happy that John-Kristian has accepted the job as manager of Verdensteatret. He's been with us for nearly ten years now and has gained vast experience through different positions within the festival. He's also a terrific project manager and a hard worker. John-Kristian also carries a strong competence and film knowledge and is dedicated to further development of Verdensteatret as a cinema and cultural venue, says TIFF's festival director Lisa Hoen.

Dalseth already has some knowledge of this managerial position as he substituted as Verdensteatret manager for six months in 2020 when the current manager was on leave.

- I have a strong connection to Verdensteatret and I'm happy and proud to be given the responsibility of running the cinema moving forward. It's quite an honour to be given the managerial position of a cinema and cultural venue as unique as Verdenstearet, which I know means a lot to many people. Now that we're hopefully on the way out of this ongoing pandemic we look forward to going back to normal and enjoy the full potential and capacity of the cinema. I can't wait to re-join the dedicated staff at Verdensteatret and start filling the building with high quality films, concerts and exciting events that will hopefully create a lasting impression on everyone that visit us, says Dalseth.

Dalseth is set to commence as manager at Verdensteatret on March 1st.
