Cathrine Steene has been hired as TIFF’s new Chief Operating Officer and deputy manager. She has worked as finance manager and acting administrative manager at the North Norwegian Art Museum. She will start her permanent position at TIFF on June 4th.
- We are very happy to have Cathrine on the team. She has extensive experience from both administration and art and culture development in northern Norway, and we look forward to having her and all her expertise as part of TIFF, says festival director Lisa Hoen.
Cathrine Steene (49) is from Tromsø and has worked for the past 20 years in various administrative positions at the North Norwegian Art Museum. She has studied literature, art history and Nordic languages at the Norwegian Arctic University and economics at BI.
- Cathrine has a very good understanding of, and experience with, both art and culture as well as finance and administration. We were looking for an Chief Operating Officer who has this unique combination because the COO is also the deputy manager in the organization, says Hoen.
- I am really looking forward to working at TIFF together with a group of skilled and committed colleagues, says Steene.
She will formally take up the position on 4 June after TIFF’s former Chief Operating Officer, Astrid Aure, has taken up new challenges within TIFF and will work as project manager for children and youth, as well as festival manager for TIFF Junior. This past year, Bodil Kjelstrup has been acting COO before she was hired as director at Hålogaland Theater.
Cathrine Steene is looking forward to taking on the assignments awaiting at the Tromsø International Film Festival.
- TiFF is a festival with values I recognize myself in, and a festival with a long and proud history, and which I have myself attended a lot. It is a strong brand for Tromsø, both locally and internationally, and it is an important arena for different voices. The war in Europe has spread like a dark and unpleasant shadow over our lives; in times of conflict, art is especially important, and TIFF has a unique position as a meeting place and a bridge builder. I am very proud and happy to start the job as Chief Operating Officer. I look forward to exciting challenges and to use my experience to the benefit of the festival, says Steene.
