Tromsø International Film Festival is hiring a Children and Youth Coordinator to develop and deliver year-round film programmes, screenings and activities for young audiences.

We organise Norway’s largest film festival, held annually in January, as well as year-round operations at Verdensteatret – Cinematheque in Tromsø, the silent film festival Silent Film Days, the children’s film festival TIFF Junior, and a range of other film-related projects locally, nationally, and internationally.

About the position
The Children and Youth Coordinator is a newly established position responsible for developing and delivering Tromsø International Film Festival’s activities for young audiences throughout the year.
The role includes planning, implementation, and reporting across a wide range of activities, such as Onsdagsfilmen and Barnas Cinematek at Verdensteatret, participation projects including the TIFF Junior Class and TIFF UNG, programmes for kindergartens, schools and families during TIFF in January, film tours, and more.
Film education and audience engagement are at the core of the role, and you will play a key part in programming films in close collaboration with the Head of Children & Youth Projects and the Cinematheque Director.

Desired qualifications

experience with cultural mediation or education, preferably for children and young audiences, within film or other art forms

experience planning and producing events

experience with marketing and communication is an advantage
Key responsibilities
-
planning screenings, participation projects, tours and related activities for children and young audiences
-
developing and delivering film mediation and audience engagement initiatives
-
contributing to film programming, with particular responsibility for short films
-
serving as a contact point for relevant partners, including schools and kindergartens
-
contributing to marketing efforts (especially social media) for youth-focused activities
-
practical execution of events
-
travelling as a film educator on selected film tours, usually in collaboration with Den kulturelle skolesekken (DKS)
The position is permanent and full-time (100%), but may be adapted for the right candidate.
The workplace is Verdensteatret in Tromsø, and the coordinator is expected to be present at this location throughout the year.
The role includes travel activity, as well as evening and weekend work during festival periods and special events.
Salary and start date by agreement. The position reports to the Head of Children & Youth Projects.
