A Human Position replaces The Emigrants as the opening film at TIFF 2022

THE EMIGRANTS by Erik Poppe was in November announced as the opening film at TIFF 2022 and was set to open the festival Monday January 17th, followed by a theatrical premiere at the end of this month. Last week the filmmakers made the difficult decision to postpone the theatrical premiere until September 2nd, due to uncertainties caused by the pandemic. It was decided that the film could still remain the opening film at TIFF 2022. Meanwhile this would be a lowkey opening without the filmmakers presence and no press availability. After several good conversations with the producers and thorough consideration TIFF has chosen another option and will change opening film. We are happy to still be able to offer the TIFF audience a few exclusive screenings of THE EMIGRANTS during the festival, but the film will not be screened for press.

Tromsø International Film Festival has decided today that A HUMAN POSITION by director Anders Emblem will be the opening film at TIFF 2022!

Anders Emblem is a Norwegian filmmaker from Ålesund in Møre og Romsdal with a degree in media science from the University of Oslo. His first film HURRY SLOWLY had its Norwegian premiere at TIFF in 2019 and the festival is very happy to also be able to present the world premiere of his new film A HUMAN POSITION three years later. A HUMAN POSITION is beautiful and elegant film, part ethical drama, part love story. We meet Asta, a young woman who gets her moral compass put to a test when she returns to her job as a journalist at Sunnmørsposten after some time away. The film is produced by Emblem and Stian Skjelstad through the company Vesterhavet and distributed by Filmbyrået Jack. The director and producer will attend TIFF and present the film on the opening night January 17th.
