PUNISHMENT

Don't miss out on the World Premiere of the profoundly humanistic documentary Punishment.

-In this film, it's not only the inmates who gets time and space for reflection and introspection, but also me as a viewer, says Hoen.

Still STRAFF

In Punishment we follow the inmates in a Norwegian prison who is experimenting with new ways to serve time. Director Øystein Mamen brings us along on a silent observation of rutines and casual conversations that will make you reflect on what it means to be human and have to deal with the consequenses of your fateful actions.

TERRESTRIAL VERSES

If you already has plannes a packed program, Hoen recommends Terrestrial Verses. With short episodes, keen political insights, and humor in every scene, this film fits perfectly into a packed program.

-This film made me both laugh and feel frustrated, says Hoen.

The film gives an insight into the Iranian society, and offers a poignant glimpse into the absurdities of daily life when it is colored with people demonstrating their powers over others.

    HOUSEKEEPING FOR BEGINNERS

Housekeeping for Beginners is a super warm and optimistic film about Dita, who has opened up her home as a "safe space" for queer-people, and at the same time is reluctantly caring for her boyfriends child.

-I love the films raw aestethic that fits so well in a supposedly messy home, and where you grow to love the characters, explains Hoen.

The film follows a group of ecclectic characters that has to decide wether or not they should care for each other, and how each person face challenges in the every day life.

HUMANIST VAMPIRE SEEKING CONSENTING SUICIDAL PERSON

        - I was incredibly charmed by this quirky vampire film, says Hoen.

Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person tells the sweet, crazy story of a young vampire that is way too empathic to get the blood she needs. This is a refreshing look into the vampire-genre, and a relentless parody of teenage-romance in the vampire-world.

        THE RYE HORN

The Rye Horn is an incredible and unique film about womens physical experiences in life, for better or for worse.

-I was very moved by the events in this film. Everything is told through intense and beautiful images which brings you very close to the characters, so that you could almost feel their experiences in your own body, Hoen says.

In the film we follow María and the women she tries to help along her way. Everything is put up against a backdrop of the limitations women lived under during Francos reign in the 1970s Spain.

          GREEN BORDER

This film is inspired by real events from 2021, where vi meet Arabic and African refugees that is pushed back and forth between Belarus and Poland because they are unwanted.

-This film feels like a punch in the gut, says Hoen.

And yet this is a film our Festival Director recommens every one watches. It is a profound humanist drama exploring human worth, and questions our core values.

            RICEBOY SLEEPS

This touching story about a Korean family in Canada captures the intricate aspects of immigrant life and delivers a unique story about indivisual relationships and families, and at the same time reflects themes such as home and belonging.

-I was deeply touched by the single mother and her son that fights to fit in in their new country, when at the same time the yearning for South-Korea and their experiences there is pulling them back, tells Hoen.
