Aurora kino IKS

Tromsø kino (now Aurora kino Fokus) is the proud founder of the Tromsø International Film Festival. Tromsø kino established TIFF in 1991.

Aurora kino IKS is co-owned by the municipalities of Tromsø, Alta and Sør-Varanger. In addition to the cinemas in these municipalities Aurora kino IKS operates the cinemas in Narvik, Vardø and Lakselv. Aurora kino IKS is northern Norway's biggest provider of culture measured in audience attendance, with around 400.000 admissions annually. This amounts to 40 % of the total cinema attendance in northern Norway.

Aurora kino IKS is an all-Norwegian, municipally owned chain of cinemas based in the north of Norway, and is today represented with cinema operations in the two northernmost counties. Our main office and administration is seated in Tromsø.

Aurora kino IKS is part of the cinema alliance KinoNor AS, founded by Trondheim and Haugesund cinemas in 2014. Since then, several cinemas have joined.

During TIFF many of our employees travel to Tromsø to work at the festival.

Most showings during TIFF are screened at Aurora kino Fokus, which has an 878 seat capacity divided into 6 screens, and our own bar. The cinema has a sizable concessions stand, reopened in 2019, with a large selection of snacks, candy and drinks. We have a cozy cafe which is open during TIFF. The cafe has delicious coffee, homemade cakes and an alcohol license. The perfect place to sit down and plan today's program over a cup of coffee!

Aurora kino Fokus offers a diverse selection of movies year round, for every age group. We have around 270.000 visitors per year.

We at Aurora kino IKS wish you a wonderful festival experience!
