Awards

Each year, Tromsø International Film Festival presents seven film awards at its closing ceremony. Throughout the festival week, six independent juries deliberate before announcing their verdicts, while the festival audience votes for its favourite film for the Tromsø Audience Award.

The Aurora Prize

TIFF's main prize goes to the best film in the Competition Program.

FIPRESCI

The international critics' prize, awarded by Federation Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique.

Den norske fredsfilmprisen (NoPFA)

The prize is given to a film spotlighting direct, structural or cultural violence, and which in a creative way contributes to a deeper understanding of conflicts and violence.

The Tromsø Palm - Shorts

The Tromsø Palm - Shorts is awarded to the best short film (under 60 minutes) in the sidebar Films from the North.

The Tromsø Palm - Features

The prize is awarded to the best feature length film in the Films from the North competition.

The Tromsø Audience Award

TIFF is first and foremost an audience festival, and the Tromsø Audience Award is the festival audience's own award.

The Faith in Film Award

The award goes to a film which engages and stimulates to reflection and critical thinking about religion’s place in society and in people’s lives.
