Kraken

Something has awakened in the depths of the Sognefjord. Large quantities of salmon wash ashore, tourists disappear, and an unknown danger lurks beneath the surface. Johanne, a marine biologist at the Institute of Marine Research and a former employee of a fish farming company in Sognefjord, reluctantly returns to the village and the industry she once left. Could the mysterious events be connected to the farming company's use of sonic delousing – a technology Johanne herself helped develop?

Kraken is a large-scale genre project that unites Norwegian folklore with modern environmental threats. The film has everything: a greedy aquaculture industry, visionary investors, loud tourists, environmentally conscious youth, and parasites in various forms. This is not just a film about a sea monster, but a story about how greed and technological hubris can awaken forces we neither understand nor can control. Kraken is both suggestive entertainment and a disturbing image of what happens when we exceed nature's tolerance limits.
