Teacher JJ is a strong advocate for preserving the endangered minority language Irish. But what happens when he encounters two young people who call themselves "low-life scum" and write explicit rap lyrics in the language?
Kneecap is a humorous docudrama that freely retells the story of how the three formed the rap group of the same name. The film focuses on Irish identity and culture. It made us in TIFF UNG laugh a lot and doesn’t always take itself too seriously, but it also carries an important and critical message about current attitudes and prejudices toward Irish and minority languages around the world.
"An extremely chaotic, unique, and interesting film with mixed media and super cool songs. It has an incredibly beautiful message about Irish as a language and culture."
-Olaf
"A political film about Northern Ireland that is relevant today. The way it was filmed and created was just insane."
- Breanna
