Song of the Sea is a beautiful hand-drawn animation film that follows 10-year-old Ben on an enriching adventure to uncover the secrets of his family. He is accompanied by his sister Saoirse, who has mysterious powers.
On the beautiful day when Ben gets a little sister, Saoirse, he also tragically loses his mom. Several years later, father Conor still mourns his beloved wife, and Saoirse is unable to speak. The little family lives all alone on a island far out in the open sea, where the father works as a lighthouse keeper. One day, the grandmother joins them and forces the children to come live with her in the city. But the siblings escape and run away. This is the beginning of an epic journey to save the world of magic and discover the secrets of their past.
Song of the Sea is rooted in the ancient folk tales of Ireland and graced by a magical soundtrack created by Bruno Coulais in collaboration with the Irish group Kíla. With its nuanced characters, stunning artwork and timeless story, this is a heartwarming film that will please audiences young and old.
