Three Sámi women breaks the law to protect their culture. The Sámi people had fished the Deatnu River as a livelihood and a way of life for centuries until Finland enforced unprecedented restrictions on the river. Kati, Ánne, and Heidi decide to fight the state to keep their Indigenous rights.

Director

Kati Eriksen is a Sámi activist and producer. She wants to strengthen her community and enable the work of carriers of Sámi culture and language.

Scott Thornton's work has taken him all over the world to cover a variety of subjects—from institutional and corporate work, to feature documentaries, to character issue-based storytelling, and beyond.
