Welcome to the second screening as part of the Arctic Pride Night: Tangerine, the cult film from Sean Baker.
It’s Christmas Eve in Los Angeles and the city’s most talked about prostitute, Sin-Dee Rella, is back on the streets after four weeks in jail. Upon hearing that her boyfriend (and pimp) has not been entirely faithful while she’s been gone, she embarks on a ruthless search for him – with best friend and fellow street girl Alexandra as her side-kick.
Tangerine is shot entirely with an iPhone equipped with special anamorphic lenses. The result is an original and crazy film that takes you on a rollercoaster ride through Los Angeles like it’s never been done before, with over-the-top characters and a nerve-wracking climax. If Quentin Tarantino and John Waters were to co-direct a feature film version of Sex and the City, this is what it would look like.
