Mountain Trek follows Icelandic farmers as they journey across mountains and valleys to round up thousands of sheep before winter. Amid unpredictable weather, the film captures, in stunning images, the grit, tradition, and sense of community behind this centuries-old ritual, and the questions it now faces in a rapidly modernizing world.
Jesse Smolan is an American 22-year-old award-winning filmmaker whose work has screened at the Reykjavik International, Newport Beach, and Banff Mountain Film Festivals.
