Once Upon a Time in a Forest

Watch trailer

Once Upon a Time in a Forest is a visually striking documentary that follows a group of young activists fighting to protect Finland's forests from the forestry industry and political interests.

Large parts of Finland's forests are commercially exploited, with corporations and older generations believing this is how it should be. The young activists, however, aim to preserve nature, fighting for biodiversity and the protection of forested areas. The film takes us through their protests and meetings with politicians while showcasing their enchanting journeys into the woods.

Blending breathtaking imagery of untouched nature, shimmering lakes, and diverse wildlife with a profound sense of ecological responsibility, the film captures both the beauty of the natural world and the bravery of its defenders. From planning actions to heartfelt family discussions and corporate confrontations, the story unfolds like a modern fairy tale—hopeful, melancholic, and deeply rooted in the struggle for a better future.
