SMILE AND WAVE

Do you want to go for a walk on the shore? SMILE and WAVE is a film essay about a spring landscape in Vesterålen. Floodwaters and memories are mixed together in the story of life's vulnerability and what is left when something is gone.

Can you say something about life by portraying a place? Can you understand more of yourself by looking at your passions? At Nordahlstranda in Bø in Vesterålen, you can wade for hours in coveralls and rubber boots and find treasures. The sea mouse is magical and secretive, thinner than an eggshell and as vulnerable as you and me. A film about how nature activates our memories and our curiosity. Flood and tide all day, all life. A slow breath that never stops. As if death did not exist. In a universe of sea mice, waving angels and skeletons, a story of a life emerges. A beautiful, poetic and thought-provoking film.
