The Sweet East

Watch trailer

High schooler Lillian ends up in a trippy Alice in Wonderland-esque situation and encounters, among other things, neo nazis, anarchists and pedo-rings. Through her travels across the US East Coast, we are served an extreme and comedic caricature of a polarized American society.

What do you get when you add a white supremacist with a Lolita complex, two ultra-woke narcissist filmmakers and a bunch of Muslim guys who live on a farm and rave to 90’s Eurodance? The Sweet East - an unhinged film about a polarized USA that's not afraid to step on anyone's toes!

Lillian (Talia Ryder), a charismatic high-schooler, runs away from a school trip in Washington DC and suddenly finds herself in the middle of a surrealistic hell. In a kind of Alice in Wonderland-inspired tale, Lillian runs into anarchists, neo-nazis and even a pedo-ring.

The Sweet East is visually compelling and elegantly balances humor with sharpness. With a magnetic cast, including Jacob Elordi (Euphoria), Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) and Simon Rex (Red Rocket, Scary Movie), the film delivers an ensemble that brings the bizarre characters to life. The movie is a blend of the road trip and coming-of-age genres with the culture war and radicalization in the USA as a backdrop. Everything is taken to the extreme here!
