Alexander Skarsgård is brilliant as a dominant motorcycle stud in this British dramedy about rough love between vulnerable men.
Colin (Harry Melling) is a shy and aimless man living at home with his parents. His life is completely turned upside down when an enigmatic and immensely handsome motorcyclist (Skarsgård) invites him along on a BDSM adventure as his submissive. This marks the start of an unconventional love story that encompasses romance, devotion, and loss.
Pillion is adapted from the novel Box Hill (2020) by Adam Mars-Jones. The film is simultaneously funny, moving, and unsettling, and has been described by The Guardian as a cross between Fifty Shades of Grey and Wallace and Gromit. In other words: a brave and impressive debut from director Harry Lighton.
Harry Lighton (b. 1992) is an English director and screenwriter. Pillion is his first feature film. It premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes, where Lighton won the Best Screenplay award.
