The poet-priest Petter Dass is more myth than man now. The boundaries between fairy tale and reality are blurred when a new monument to Dass is being built far out in the ocean. This astonishing, moving and intellectually engaging documentary offers a fresh and thought-provoking perspective on one of Northern Norway’s most mythologized figures, and raises important questions about cultural memory and moral legacy.
Director Trond Kvig Andreassen has directed several documentaries and music videos exploring themes of outsiders and alternative lifestyles. His series Mr. Good: Cop or Crook is streaming worldwide on Netflix, and in the past year his two latest films, Riv i Hjertet and Kyiv Soloists premiered in cinemas nationwide.
