The “Green Border” between Poland and Belarus is not only about politics but also prompts reflection on the ethics of modern Europe as a whole. Interwoven with multiple destinies, this film raises questions about our core values.
Manipulated through propaganda, human traffickers, and intermediaries, refugees are lured to the "green border" between Belarus and Poland—the supposed "easy way" into Europe and Sweden for a Syrian family seeking safety. Their story intertwines with that of an English teacher from Afghanistan, a Polish border guard, and a group of activists on the same side of the border—each merely a pawn in this geopolitical crisis. The Syrian family, fleeing violence and oppression, faces brutal border guards in both Poland and Belarus. One of these guards slowly awakens to the suffering routinely inflicted by his profession
Holland's film confronts the moral, emotional, and physical challenges with significant doses of unpredictability. It is a haunting drama that delves into the complex interplay between officials, activists, and civilians, challenging society to confront the harsh realities faced by migrants.
