A hard-hitting coming-of-age drama about a young boxer who is trying to figure out who he is outside the ring.
Camille is a young boxing talent selected for the national team ahead of the upcoming European Championship. He survives a dramatic fall, thanks to his best friend and sparring partner, Matteo. But after rehabilitation, Camille is still plagued by mysterious pains. He wakes from nightmares and experiences panic attacks. When his body doesn't function as it should, all of Camille's dreams are put in jeopardy. And in the boxing ring, there is zero tolerance for showing weakness.
Wild Foxes is a gripping portrait of young masculinity under pressure. It addresses the misconception that men must suffer in silence, as if suppression is the ultimate form of willpower. The film, which is Valéry Carnoy's debut feature, won the Europa Cinemas Cannes Label for Best European Film and the SACD Prize for Best French Film during Director's Fortnight in Cannes.
Valéry Carnoy is a Belgian director , who studied at the Institut National Supérieur des Arts du Spectacle (INSAS) in Brussels. His short films have traveled to festivals worldwide and won several awards. Wild Foxes is his first feature film
