The Films from the North sidebar shows that there is great creativity among filmmakers in the region. Many of the films in the program tell of a strong connection to the region. Is it the pandemic that has made us more concerned about our immediate area? What is it like to create a film in the north and what forces must be in place for young talents to choose to settle down?

Onsdag 19. januar: Den frie naturen / The wilderness

In the last two years, we have all experienced boundaries - those that limit our social life, the use of cultural meeting places and distance to each other. But nature has been available - all the time. Some of us chose to retreat, whether on high peaks or in the woods behind the house. For many, nature functions as medicine, and research is scrambling to find answers to that experience. This wilderness, does it remain free and wild when we all want out?

Why is it so difficult to talk about sexual abuse? Liselotte Wajstedt's film The Silence in Sápmi tells of abuse and the Sámi ideal of secrecy. What do two women who choose to break the silence face? In this conversation, we want to understand what mechanisms of confidentiality exist in our society and how we can break the silence.
