Film Concert: Iran Mayen - Korona

This hard-hitting and powerful film concert depicts the consequences of the pandemic on both a local and global level, with an original film and music composed by the band Iran Mayen from Tromsø. The band was started in 2015 and and today features Lars Dalheim, Andreas B. Høyer, Rolf-Ole R. Jenssen, Andreas Engum, Anders T. Gjerdrum and Johan Grønvik.

In the north of Norway the pandemic has not struck as hard as elsewhere in the world. But in order to keep the number of infected under control, the public has had to sacrifice a lot. The film wants to capture the consequences and contrasts the pandemic has brought on the people and their surroundings, both on a local and global scale. The materials for the film have been collected over the past year spent in involuntary confinement in Troms. The music in its entirety is newly composed and will be performed live.

Director

Iran Mayen was formed in 2015, and is composed of Lars Dalheim, Andreas B. Høyer, Rolf-Ole R. Jenssen, Andreas Engum, Anders T. Gjerdrum and Johan Grønvik. Their sound can be described as frostbitten coastal post-rock, brimming with emotions and crecendos, delivering a symbiotic audio-visual experience. With heavy riffs and rough edges, their melodies are overwhelmingly cinematic, and absolutely made for the big screen.

They have played a handful of memorable concerts in Tromsø, including a terrific original performance to Herbert Ponting's 1924 film The Great White Silence at TIFF's Silent Film Days in 2017. Their previous film concert, Tromsø on Fire premiered at Verdensteatret in 2019 and was also performed for a full house at Driv during TIFF 2020. The band is currently working on their first studio album.
