Puan

Professor Marcelo has been teaching philosophy at the same university for as long as he can remember, but when his supervisor dies, suddenly his own life is put to the test. This is a philosophical comedy of existential proportions!

Professor Marcelo has been teaching philosophy at the same university for as long as he can remember, but when his supervisor dies, suddenly his own life is put to the test. Middle-aged Marcelo (award-winningly portrayed by Marcelo Subiotto) is expected by the university to take over the department head position after Professor Caselli, but this hypothesis fails when the younger and charismatic Professor Rafael (played by Leonardo Sbaraglia) expresses interest in the same job. The duel that ensues between Marcelo and Rafael has significant repercussions on the university in the district of Puan, gradually reflecting the Argentine society outside, on the verge of exceeding the threshold for disruptions and chaos.

This first collaboration between filmmakers Mariá Alché and Benjamín Naishtat offers a first-rate script where the tragic and the comic share the same school desk, resulting in an exceptionally timely story that doesn’t require higher education to appreciate.
