TIFF UNG: The Sweet East

Watch trailer

A timely and timeless film about American stereotypes taken to the extreme and absurd.

This film is difficult to describe because it has a hundred plots per minute. There are new names all the time and the outfits are constantly changing. We meet high school student Lillian. On a class trip to Washington D.C. she gets lost and loses the others, marking the beginning of a wild journey through cities and forests in the USA. She encounters fascists, neo-Nazis, filmmakers, and religious fanatics, among others. Look forward to the intense piercing scene! Many have called this film a twist on Alice in Wonderland, but it's not a remake, so don't get too hung up on that comparison. The lead role is played by Talia Ryder, known for Never Rarely Sometimes Always and Do Revenge. Look out for Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) and Jacob Elordi (Euphoria) in other roles.

This is a film unlike most others - and definitely not the kind you usually see in cinemas!

Welcome to TIFF UNG! This film program consists of four movies specially selected by a dedicated group of young people.

Screenings are only for those aged 15 to 19 and are free of charge. Tickets will be handed out at Aurora Kino Fokus one hour before the screening. First come, first served!
