In this short documentary from Lofoten we get to meet the unique and colourful artist, Tor Esaissen. His atelier and gallery is full of everyday objects. Piles of banana peels from the last 20 years race towards the ceiling alongside towers of yoghurt cups. Tor also speaks enthusiastically about how he thinks humans should live more harmoniously on this earth.

The film is a family chronicle of three generations. It is based on a secret that has reshaped our understanding of who my grandmother was as a person. Through my grandmother’s story, which is told through the memories of her children, the film reflects on the consequences of mental illness, on not being able to have a choice of one's own and what this does to a person.
